A Link Connection is when a device connects to the customer’s Link Network in the AddSecure Link service. This mobile connection requires that the SIM card delivered by AddSecure, communicates through AddSecure’s private access point name (APN). The traffic in the mobile network is protected, and an OpenVPN client is normally not needed for this type of connection. Devices are assigned IP addresses in the customer’s Link Network and are reachable (for data traffic purposes) from devices that have been assigned a Link Access specific to that network.
A Link Network can contain many IP addresses for connected devices. Initially two mobile devices cannot communicate with one another; instead they can only be reached via a Link Access.
Operators
Link Secure SIM cards use the commercial networks for communication. The service supports a number of different operators with more coming in future updates. When ordering SIM cards, the user has to decide which operator to use. The SIM cards will then be bound to the chosen operator.
Data amounts
A number of different communication plans are available for mobile connections. When a communication plan has been activated, a Link Connection can only use the network plan tied to that communication plan.
For more information about the different data bundles see subscriptions and data volumes.
Link Device
A Link Device includes all VPN service, fixed IP addresses and policy rules to safely and securely handle an IoT device for a Link Connection. A Link Device is automatically created for each Link Connection to administrate its security features.
