To simplify use in Link Manager, several features have been hidden and must be activated before use. Users who only have a basic need should not be disturbed by unused features in the user interface.
The following features can be ordered in Link Manager’s order module to customize the user interface:
- Spotlight (Beta, free access)
- VPN access log
- VPN access password (Enhanced security)
- VPN System access
- IPSec
- Connection groups
Add-ons for Connections
Spotlight (Beta, free access)
This comprehensive feature is valuable for general connectivity troubleshooting.
Spotlight provides a detailed, time-correlated view of the device provisioning status, real time network signaling history, and real time connection history. This information is presented together on a timeline for easy visual analysis. Additional details e.g. ping and reconnect events is displayed on the Spotlight timeline.
Add-ons for Link Networks

VPN access log
VPN access log makes it possible to see which VPN user accesses and VPN system accesses are connected to your Link Network. The feature also enables the possibility to view the connection history. In the access logs all VPN user access and VPN system access activities are available and searchable based on time or individual view.
VPN access password
A Link user access is by default easy to use and is not protected by a password when connecting to a network. This feature enables password protection and demands users to enter a password when establishing the session.
The password can be set on a common or an individual level.
- Common level, the common password is used by all VPN user accesses in the Network.
- Individual level, an individual password can be set on each access to override the common password.
Examples of when the feature can be used:
- Increased security to prevent intruders accessing a lost or stolen computer.
- VPN user access used by consultant that only should have access from time to time. It’s easier to set a new password each time using the VPN user access instead of creating a new access and then revoke it.
VPN System access (edit)
A VPN System Access is when a device or router connects to the customer’s Link Network in the AddSecure Link service. An IP connection requires that the device has an OpenVPN certificate installed; this certificate is generated in Link Manager. All communication takes place through an OpenVPN tunnel using a carrier of your choice, for example, via broadband access or mobile broadband.
Traffic in the encrypted OpenVPN tunnel is secure, and devices are assigned IP addresses in the customer’s Link Network to be reachable (for data traffic purposes) from a VPN System Access.
A VPN System Access has fully routable IP addresses, which means that resources can reach other Link Connections. And the product requires that the device or connecting router can handle OpenVPN certificates.
To connect several devices, a Link Network can reach numerous underlying IP addresses. The customer administrator defines the underlying networks and their IP plans under each VPN System Access. The customer administrator ensures that the IP plan is correct and that there are no IP address conflicts.
Note that when reporting VPN System access issues to AddSecure, you must always be able to describe your solution with IP plans and network sketches to get help and advice.
IPSec (edit)
IPSec is available as a feature in Link Networks.
The set-up of an IPSec tunnel is automated and can be deployed from Link Manager with predefined routers for a smooth and swift installation.
Please, observe that solid IT knowledge is required to be able to use this feature correctly. Link Manager simplifies complicated matters without compromising on security. Having said that, planning is essential to ensure that your setup is as well-structured as possible and documented.
Note that when reporting IPSec issues to AddSecure, you must always be able to describe your solution with IP plans and network sketches to get help and advice.
Connection groups
WARNING! Activation of Connection groups will disable policies, system accesses and IPSec. Please contact support if you have any questions about activation of Connection groups.
This feature creates a ‘closed user group’ with Connections and VPN accesses. Connection groups replaces the normal Network. With this feature you can group customers or Connections into different groups instead of using policies and multiple Link Networks. A SIM card is connected to a group upon activation. A Connection group can be defined as a cost center enabling easier invoicing of various customers.
There is also a variant of Connection groups enabling installers to have their groups to access different customers’ Connections (Service Groups). Can be used by installers for remote service of devices.
