To be able to access devices that are part of the private network, users are assigned a Link Access. Link Manager is used to assign a Link Access to the individuals that are to access the network. A Link Access consists of an OpenVPN certificate that is linked to a specific network. The certificate is then installed on the user’s device, which can be a PC, a Mac, an Android telephone, or an iPhone.
Examples of applications:
![]()
- Data collection where the connected computer requests data from the mobile devices.
- Service technicians who connect temporarily and remotely log in to a mobile device.
Add-on: Enhanced security
A Link User Access is by default easy to use and is not protected by a password when connecting to a network. When enabling Enhanced security on a network the user is always prompted to enter a password when establishing the session.
The password can be set on a common or an individual level.
- Common level, the common password is used by all Link User Accesses in the Network.
- Individual level, an individual password can be set on each access to override the common password.
Examples of when the function can be used:
![]()
- Increased security to prevent intruders accessing a lost or stolen computer.
- Link User Access used by consultant that only should have access from time to time. It’s easier to set a new password each time they use the VPN User Access instead of creating a new access and then revoke it.
